Great Wall2

Beijing - Visit the Great Wall - walk along the top of the wall and view the scenary. (Be prepared for some light climbing as you hike along the Great Wall that once stretched for over 3,500 miles, greater than the distance from NYC to SF.) The Wall was built to protect civilized Chinese society from the Nomads of the north. Then visit the Forbidden City and Palace Museum. Built in 1406-1420, it has been the home of Ming and Qing Dynasties for almost 500 years. In front of the Palace is Tiananmen Square, where pro-democracy demonstrations that were crushed in 1989. Opposite the Square is the Great Hall of the People, seat of the current Chinese government. On the inside, you will see a grand staircase and at the first landing, there is a great sunrise painting by well-known Lingnan School artist, Gwan San-yu. Stay at the Sheraton Four Points, 5-stars.

Forbidden City
Shanghai - The financial capital of China and the home of the soup dumpling (Sha Lon Bau). Try one if you have a chance. Visit Shanghai's Old Street. Then transfer to the old city of Suzhou - a beautiful ancient city that dates back to 514BC. Visit the Silk Spinning Factory where you'll have a chance to buy some warm, but very light, Chinese bedcovers. Stay at the Grand Metro Park Suzhou, 4-stars.
West Lake
Hangzhou - this wonderful resort surrounding West Lake is known for having the most beautiful ladies in China. Take a boat ride along the Lake and sample exotic teas that are grown nearby. Try some of the less popular teas, such as chrysanthemum tea with a dash of sugar. Stay at the Grand Metro Park Hangzhou, 4-stars and the Marriott Renaissance, Shanghai, 5-stars
TerraCotta Soldiers
Shanghai - relax and do some shopping before flying back home, unless you take the Optional Tour of Xi'an to see the Terracotta Warriors and Horse Museum. Each soldier is distinctive and individually carved. This is the most astounding discovery of the 20th Century. Stay at the Marriott Renaissance, Shanghai, 5-stars
